Adolescent gynecology in the office setting

Pediatricians will inevitably encounter gynecologic issues when they care for adolescents. Referral of these problems to a gynecologist is not always necessary or preferred by the patients or their parents. This article provides an overview of commonly encountered diagnoses, necessary equipment and supplies, and topics to be considered when approaching the adolescent and their parents including psychosocial developmental issues and confidentiality.
