Modeling isotopic fractionation in systems with multiple sources and sinks with application to atmospheric CH4

摘要
A formula for calculation of the isotopic composition parameter delta in a system with any number of sources and sinks is derived. It is applied to the isotope pairs C-13/C-12 and to H-2/H in atmospheric methane for which the importance of isotope fractionation in the sink processes is illustrated.
