摘要
Unexpectedly severe faults cause electricity to arc uncontrollably within the breaker destroying it and the related utility or customer equipment. This incident can cause up to million dollars in lost production. Power quality is becoming a more important issue with power suppliers vying to provide improved services. Utilities could use fault current limiters to protect expensive equipment and offer a more power supply to the customers. A survey efforts worldwide on the development of commercially viable superconducting fault current limiters is presented.
