摘要
The characteristics of the cortical sulci provide valuable information to help scientists understand the various functions of the different regions of the brain. It is therefore important to develop a modeling technique of that would accurately simulate the structural complexity of the cortical sulci. Towards this end, a robust voxel-coding methodology is proposed that automatically extracts and parameterizes the sulcal surfaces from volume data sets. The properties of the initial contours provide a robust principle for unambiguous sulcal surface reconstruction. Several comparisons with manually derived surface models showed strong agreement between manually and automatically derived models.
