The Effect of TiH2 Particle Size on the Morphology of Al-Foam Produced by PM Process

摘要
A study was conducted to investigate the effect of titanium hydroxide (TiH2) particle size on the morphology of aluminum (Al)-foam produced by PM process. The investigation was an approach to utilize the altering of the decomposition kinetics of TiH2, based on its particulate sizes. TiH2 type N was ground by using a Retsch ball mill type S100, to obtain a wide variety of TiH2 particulate sizes. Particle size and size distributions for the supplied and milled powders were measured, using a Malvern MasterSizer 2000 laser particle size analyzer. Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) were also carried out for TiH2 powders with different particle sizes, using Netzsch STA 409 type equipment.
