Influence of pressure on spectral intensities in a flowing nitrogen glow discharge

Intensity measurements on the second positive and first negative systems were made in a flowing do nitrogen discharge in order to study the dependence on gas pressure. Different populating mechanisms for the states N-2(C-3 Pi(u)) and N-2(+)(B-2 Sigma(u)(+)) together with different excitation energy values for these states account for the experimental results.
