Do nanoparticles interfere with human health?

The years to come will probably see a dramatic increase in the industrial generation and use of nonomaterials. The impact of this development on worker safety, consumer protection, public health and the environment has to be considered carefully, especially as the toxicity of nonomaterials is a priori not predictable from that of bulk material. Concerns hove been expressed that the very properties that are being exploited by researchers and the industry might have negative health and environmental impacts and, particularly, that they might result in greater toxicity.
