摘要
The understanding of the effect of added sugars on health has changed in the past ten to fifteen years. In North America, in the late 1960s and throughout the 1970s, sugar was promoted as a health hazard in numerous books and an endless stream of articles intended for consumers. In the 1980s, this view received close examination by scientists and was found to be in error. At current levels of consumption, added sugar is not the cause of chronic or acute diseases, other than dental caries. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Inc.
