From the heart

An American Psychological Association president's experiences and reflections on the presidency, the association, and the discipline are presented. Critical issues facing psychology are summarized, with the enduring problem of human horror being seen as paramount. A vision is articulated of an uplifting and enobling psychology, both in science and in practice, that will encompass and advance the generous, loving, spiritual, and poetic sides of our character.
