摘要：

The shunt volume through a secundum atrial septal defect (ASD) is widely believed to depend on the relative compliance of the 2 ventricles rather than on the size of the defect.(1,2) To our knowledge, the evidence for this is unclear. We investigated the relation between ASD size and Qp/Qs, and based on our results we suggest that the indication for ASD closure should depend on defect size measured by 2-dimensional echocardiography.
