Faceted solidification morphologies in low-growth-rate Al-Si eutectics

摘要
In this article, recent findings from the investigation of solidification morphologies resulting from the low-velocity directional solidification of Al-Si eutectic alloys are discussed. The development of a primary array of angular silicon rods is. examined, and the twinned structure of the faceted silicon phase is shown to He an essential contributor to the mechanisms of growth, branching, spacing selection, and the evolution of <100> Si texture within the two-phase microstructure.
