摘要
Silicon carbide fibre/mullite matrix composites were fabricated. Fibres were uniaxially aligned by winding and the matrix material was cast in slip form on top of the fibres. Pre-pregs were cut, stacked and laminated to uniaxially reinforced green composites. Consolidation was done by hot isostatic pressing. Flexure strengths between 856 and 956 MPa were obtained for composites HIPed at 1450 degrees C, 160 MPa and the fracture behaviour was non-brittle with extensive fibre pull-out.
