Modification of an alumina (γ-Al2O3) membrane:: characterization by electrochemical parameters and X-Ray photoelectron spectroscopy

摘要
A commercial alumina membrane for microfiltration has been modified with an inorganic precipitate (uranyl phenylphosphonate or UPP) into the pores. The modified membrane was chemical and electrochemical characterized. Membrane surface characterization was carried out by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, while electrochemical transport parameters were determined from salt diffusion and impedance spectroscopy for the membrane/NaCl solutions. From these results, atomic concentrations on the surface of the modified membrane, salt permeability and membrane electrical resistance were obtained. A comparison of these values with those determined for an unmodified membrane allows the determination of precipitate effect on the different parameters as well as the influence of X-ray on the UPP precipitate.
