Grain boundaries (GBs) in Fe-doped SrTiO3 were investigated by high resolution transmission electron microscopy and spatially resolved electron energy loss spectroscopy (SREELS). Special GBs, such as Sigma 3 (111) and Sigma 5 (310), are free of any amorphous phase, while ''arbitrary'' GBs in polycrystalline SrTiO3 contain an amorphous film with an average thickness of 0.7+/-0.2 nm. Chemical analysis using SREELS showed that the Ti/O ratio at the GB is higher than in the bulk, which is insensitive to the Fe doping. Segregation of acceptor dopant Fe was detected at GBs.
