Polycyclooctatetraene (polyacetylene) produced with a ruthenium olefin metathesis catalyst

摘要
Polyacetylene (PA) films were produced through ring opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of 1,3,5,7-cyclooctatetraene (COT) using highly active ruthenium olefin metathesis catalysts. Four major isomeric structures were identified for PA. The yields in the polymerization reactions were based on the weight differential of the polymer substrate and ranged from 15% to 30%.
