Energetic materials: The biguanidium nitrates

摘要
The structures of two new potentially energetic biguanidium salts, biguanidium nitrate, C2H8N5+.NO3- [(BIGH)NO3], and biguanidium dinitrate, C2H9N52+.-2NO(3)(-) [(BIGH(2))(NO3)(2)], have been determined from X-ray data collected at 193 K. The mono- and diprotonated biguanidium nitrates are dense organic materials with efficient packing of planar anions and biplanar (twisted) cations connected by multiple hydrogen bonds. The experimental densities are compared with those obtained from empirical calculations.
