Discontinuity of GP(I) zone and θ"-phase in an Al-Cu alloy

摘要
The precipitation behavior of Al-Cu alloys were examined using differential scanning calorimetry measurement, transmission electron microscopy and the Vickers hardness test to establish the discontinuity of G.P.(I) and θ″ in thermal stability. At 433 K, precipitation hardening was observed in an Al-Cu alloy containing more than 1.2 at% Cu. It is essential to take the copper concentration into account when considering the precipitation behavior in an Al-Cu alloy, since the stability of the precipitates also depends on the solute concentration.
