摘要
The challenges posed by the high-molecular-weight organic compounds in the chemical analysis of atmospheric aerosol particles, were investigated. It is difficult to determine the concentration of the organic compounds with most of the analytical methods as the chemical properties of the compounds are unknown. The researchers have used substances as surrogate calibration standards for quantification of UV absorption inspite of the unknown similarities of the organic compounds and the aerosols. The discovery of high-molecular-weight compounds in aerosol particles challenges opens a wide field for new and innovative analytical developments.
