摘要：

The treatment of retinal detachment in veterinary patients has progressed within recent years and promises to improve with the application of newer modalities. This article will review the basic principles of retinal adhesion and the causes of retinal separation, and thereby define a rational approach to determining what constitutes a surgical retinal detachment. Specific techniques will be reviewed that have potential veterinary applications.
