Magnetic properties of Co- and Cu-doped (RNi2B2C)-B-11 (R=Ho, Er) measured by neutron scattering

摘要
Elastic and inelastic neutron scattering experiments on (RNi2-xMxB2C)-B-11 (R = Ho, Er; M = Co, Cu) have been performed above and below T-N in order to study the magnetic properties. With the help of inelastic neutron scattering we could unambiguously determine the crystal electric field (CEF) splitting of the rare-earth ions and hence explain the magnetic bulk properties. With neutron diffraction measurements a drastic change in the magnetic ordering was found for (ErNi1.8Co0.2B2C)-B-11 while for (ErNi1.8Cu0.2B2C)-B-11 and (HoNi1.8Co0.2B2C)-B-11 the magnetic ordering turned out to be quite similar to that of the respective undoped compounds.
