Spectroscopic characterisation of disordered materials doped with chromium

This paper presents a review of recent investigations on disordered materials such as glasses and disordered crystals doped with chromium. The main goal of the research was the determination of the lattice disorder and the influence of this disorder on the properties of the luminescence centres and the nonradiative processes. The most important and novel are theoretical approaches that allow recovery of the distribution of the lattice disorder and the crystal-field parameters from the spectroscopic data.
