(Figure Presented) Lighting up: The conformation of the DNA-binding domain of the basic helix-loop-helix protein MyoD can be controlled through an azobenzene cross-linker in response to light flashes. The DNA binding specificity of alkylated MyoD can be modulated through the isomerization of the cross-linker to the cis conformer, which leads to significantly enhanced sequence selectivity. © 2005 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
