Spin-glass freezing in the S=1 antiferromagnetic Heisenberg chain NiC2O4 center dot 2[(2-methylimidazole)(x)(H2O)(1-x)]

摘要
We report the results of de, linear ac, and nonlinear ac magnetic susceptibility measurements on the S=1 linear-chain Heisenberg antiferromagnet NiC2O4 . 2L(x)L(1-x)' [L=2-methylimidazole(2MIz); L'=H2O] (0.045 less than or equal to x less than or equal to 0.49). We have observed spin-glass freezing in the compounds with x greater than or equal to 0.078. On the other hand, no spin-glass freezing has been observed in Ni1-xZnxC2O4 ..2L (L=2MIz) in the range 0 less than or equal to x less than or equal to 0.29. This means that the spin-glass freezing is not caused by shortening the length of magnetic sites in ... Ni-C2O4-Ni ... chains, but is caused by structural defects on the chains in NiC2O4 . 2L(x)L(1-x)'. A possible origin of this spin-glass freezing is discussed.
