Secondary interactions in thallium(I) coordination, [Tl2(DBM)2]n, DBM-=1,3-diphenylpropane-1,3-dionate (dibenzoylmethanide)

摘要：

The Ti-I complex of 1,3-diphenylpropane-1,3-dionate (dibenzoylmethanide, DBM-), [Tl-2(DBM)(2)](n), has been synthesized and characterized. The single-crystal X-ray data show there are two different Tl environments. One type of Tl-atom in the TlO4C6Tl2 environment is twelve-coordinated, with two weak Tl center dot center dot center dot Tl and hexalhapto (eta(6)) interactions, TlC6. The other type of Tl-atom in the TlO4C2Tl2 units is eight-coordinated, with two weak Tl center dot center dot center dot Tl and dihapto (eta(2)) interactions, TlC2. The dimeric units [Tl-2(DBM)(2)] linked through Tl center dot center dot center dot Tl and polyhapto interactions, TlC6 and TlC2, and produce the I D polymeric chains. Comparison with the analogous Pb(II) compound indicates that Ti-I may also act as both a Lewis acid and a Lewis base. (C) 2006 Elsevier SAS. All rights reserved.
