Low-temperature magnetic properties of R0.7Pb0.3MnO3 (R = Nd and La) single crystals

R0.7Pb0.3MnO3 (R = Nd and La) single crystals with perovskite-like structure were prepared by the flux growth using the accelerated crucible rotation technique. Large crystal volume of 1.1 x 0.7 x 0.4 cm(3) was obtained. The low-temperature magnetization behavior and magnetic structure were studied. It was found that the temperature dependence of magnetization of both the samples obeys the Bloch T-3/2 law. However, Nd0.7Pb0.3MnO3 single crystals exhibited larger B value, larger high-field susceptibility at low temperature, and lower Curie temperature than La0.7Pb0.3MnO3 samples. The influence of Nd on magnetic properties is discussed. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
