摘要
It is shown that inelastic losses can give rise to substantial changes on a scale of 10-100 meV in the observed line shape and central energy compared to the intrinsic spectral function of an electron photoemitted from a solid. These changes arise from the frequency dependence of the electron-energy-loss-spectroscopy-like loss function, This contradicts a conclusion of Mills [Phys. Rev. B 62, 11 197 (2000)], who found no such changes.
