Polymerizing mixtures of polymerizable PEO-oligomers with a matrix polymer content of 0-40 wt.% yielded mechanically stable polymer electrolytes with an ionic conductivity of 10(-4) to 10(-5) S/cm Analyses of the complex impedance in the frequency range 100 mHz to 10 MHz and the temperature-dependent conducting behavior of the electrolytes in the range 0-75 degrees C showed that blending the PEG-based system with SARAN, which has high T-g and good film-forming properties, has little effect on the ion-conducting behavior of the polymer electrolyte. Plasticizers were added to this system to improve the ionic conductivity with low weight percentage, because adding plasticizer makes the polymerization difficult. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V.
