Temperature dependence of the luminescence decay of Cr3+ ions in LiTaO3:: Confined potential model

摘要
The decay times of Cr3+ emission in LiTaO3:Cr crystal due to T-4(2)-->(4)A(2) transition has been measured in the temperature range of 5-390 K. The strong temperature quenching of Cr3+ emission has been analyzed by means of the nonradiative internal conversion process. Calculations of nonradiative transition rates have been performed in the framework of the modified configurational coordinate models assuming either nonlinearity of the electron-lattice coupling or the ion motion confinement effect. The best agreement with the experimental results has been obtained assuming the confinement effect, which is discussed in more detail. [S0163-1829(99)02526-6].
