摘要
Cumyl phenyldithioacetate (CPDA) and 1-phenylethyl phenyldithioacetate (1-PEPDA) as versatile ambient-temperature reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) agents were presented. The synthesis of both the compounds was proceeded by subsequent reaction of the resulting phenyldithioacetic acid with stryene and benzyl chloride with carbon disulphide. The compunds were found to have relatively poor radical stablizing ability and were well suited for controling styrene and 1-PEPDA polymerization at ambient temperature.
