NO scattering from well-ordered adlayers adsorbed on Pt(111): translational energy and rotational state distributions

摘要
The results of a preliminary study of the translational energy and rotational quantum stare resolved scattering of nitric oxide (NO) from well-characterised monolayers of carbon monoxide (CO) and ethylidyne (CCH3) on a Pt(111) substrate are reported. Both direct inelastic and trapping/desorption scattering mechanisms are observed. An initial interpretation of the experimental observations considering the effects of the adlayer polarity and molecular complexity is made. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
