We analyzed the short- and long-term outcomes and the predictors of mortality after coronary artery stenting in 554 consecutive patients with mild chronic renal insufficiency and compared them with 4,530 consecutive patients with normal renal function. Despite similar angiographic success rates, mild chronic renal insufficiency was associated with a significantly higher incidence of major in-hospital complications and long-term morbidity and mortality after percutaneous coronary artery intervention with stents.
