摘要
A new AMS system based on a 5 MV tandem accelerator has been installed at the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES). This system, NIES-TERRA (Tandem accelerator for Environmental Research and Radiocarbon Analysis), is used primarily to investigate the environmental carbon cycle by means of high precision C-14 dating. Our research program is also directed towards the use of Be-10, Al-26, Cl-36, Ca-41, and I-129, both as tracers and chronometers. The details of the system design are presented here. The whole AMS system is presently undergoing performance tests.
