摘要
The development of a personal database, the SQL-based MyLifeBits platform, for recording, storing, and accessing a personal lifetime archive is discussed. Memex, a personal information system, invented by Vannevar Bush, serves as the blueprint for MyLifebits. MyLifeBits database can store content and metadata for a variety of item types, including contacts, documents, emails, photos, music and video. In order to support legacy applications, NTFS files and Outlook email stores are monitored and their metadata integrated into the database, including the text of each item to enable full-text search. The MyLifeBits shell is the main user interface and allows queries to be viewed as a list, variable-sized thumbnails, and a timeline. MyLifeBits will serve as a platform for research as one continue to study the main issues related to personal lifetime storage. It has established a new benchmark for the future personal computers..
