White rice husk ash filled natural rubber compounds: the effect of multifunctional additive and silane coupling agents

摘要
The effects of multifunctional additive (MFA), silane coupling agent, Si69 and combination of MFA/Si69 on the properties of white rice husk ash (WRHA)-filled SMR L compounds have been studied. The incorporation of these additives increases the cure rate and improves the mechanical properties of WRHA-filled SMR-L vulcanizates. Scanning electron microscopy and rubber-filler interaction studies indicate that these additives enhanced filler dispersion and crosslink density of the rubber vulcanizates. Overall studies show that MFA can be used partially to replace the Si69 without much effect on curing characteristics and mechanical properties. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
