摘要
The SAR signatures of ships in separate sub-apertures are investigated in two RADARSAT images. It is found that in most cases there is a low correlation between the sub-apertures. Several alternative combinations of three sub-apertures, other than the usual multi-look average, are investigated for their ship detection performance on an image with medium sea state. At least in that case, none of the alternative combinations (including cross-coherence) outperforms the classical multi-look approach. The differences between the polarization channels in ENVISAT ASAR AP mode may be partly due to sub-aperture effects.
