摘要
The variations in tensile properties of individual weld beads within a multi-pass weldment were studied and compared to microhardness data. Samples in each of the three orthogonal directions were selected at locations representing five different microstructures. The yield strength and ultimate strength showed some directional dependence, with the yield strength showing particularly high anisotropy. The microsample testing provided true mechanical properties from a small region in any selected direction by directly measuring a stress-strain curve. While the ultimate stress, yield stress and elongation correlated generally with microhardness, accurately predicting these properties from microhardness data was difficult.
