Successive activation and perfunctionalization of arenes by π-complexation to CpFe+ and Cp*Ru+ for the construction of organometallic stars and dendrimers

摘要
Temporary complexation and activation of hexamethylbenzene by CpFe+ (Cp = eta(5)-C5H5) allow mild hexa-p-bromobenzylation. Then regioselective pi-complexation of the six peripheral arene rings of the resulting star molecule by Cp*Ru+ (Cp* = eta(5)-C5Me5) activates nucleophilic substitution of the six bromides by phenol dendrons to give an 18-allyl hexaruthenium dendrimer.
