Hole spin quantum beats in quantum-well structures

摘要
We report experimental and theoretical investigations of the quantized hole states in a magnetic field. We observe spin quantum beats in the time-resolved photoluminescence of N-modulation-doped GaAs/A(x)Ga(1-x)As quantum wells in a magnetic field perpendicular to the growth direction. The measurement of these quantum beats, which originate from the Larmor precession of heavy-hole spins, yields the accurate determination of the transverse heavy-hole Lande g factor. We find \g(h,perpendicular to)\ = 0.04 +/- 0.01, in good agreement with the theoretical calculations based on the k.p theory in the five level model. [S0163-1829(99)10931-7].
