Methods to ascertain the concentration and isotopic composition of seawater osmium are described. The isolation step involves anion exchange and the distillation of osmium tetroxide. The determinative step utilizes resonance ionization mass spectrometry. The isotopic composition and concentration of osmium are reported for the first time.
