Removal of cyanide from liquid wastes by modified clinoptilolite

摘要
This paper describes the preparation and evaluation of various cationic forms of clinoptilolite for removal of cyanide from aqueous solutions. The cobalt form of the zeolite showed the highest uptake of 1.95 meq of cyanide per gram of zeolite, whereas the uptake of natural forms is 0.070 meq g(-1). The kinetics of cyanide desorption into solutions with different ionic strength were studied. Modified clinoptilolite is a good candidate for the removal and immobilization of cyanide.
