Models of the bis-histidine-ligated electron-transferring cytochromes. Comparative geometric and electronic structure of low-spin ferro- and ferrihemes

摘要
Geometric and electronic structure of low-spin ferro- and ferrihemes were investigated. Synthetic low-spin ferriheme model complexes were used in the study. EPR spectroscopy was used to classify low spin ferriheme proteins in terms of the axial ligands. The results show that axial ligands are in 'perpendicular' planes, 'large g max' electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) signals were also observed.
