Noble metal deposition on aluminum oxide powder surfaces by ion beam sputtering

摘要
Gold and palladium were deposited by rare gas ion bombardment of metal foils onto alumina powder which was agitated in front of the sputter targets in a rotating conical vessel. The amount of deposited metal on the powder increased with the sputter fluence, reaching up to around 3 wt%. The coating was macroscopically visible as coloration of the powder. The sputter deposited noble metals form nodules on the oxide powder surface. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
