This review covers isolated and well-defined compounds that contain a Pd-C bond stabilized by the intramolecular coordination of one or two neutral donor atoms (N, P, As, O, Se, or Se). Topics discussed include the methods of preparation, chiral cyclopalladated compounds, palladacycles in medicinal and biological chemistry, functionalization of Pd-C bonds, palladacycles as catalyst precursors, total syntheses, caveats, photoluminescent palladacycles, liquid crystals, and supramolecules and dendrimers.
