Observation of a long range surface mode with a polymer/silver/polymer multilayer

摘要
The excitation of a long range surface mode in the visible region is reported. Using a vacuum evaporated silver film in a nearly symmetric embedding of two spincoated polymer films, a full spectrum of resonance lines in the angular reflectivity of the multilayer is recorded. In addition to the plasmon resonance of the Ag layer and the metal film enhanced leaky modes of the outer polymer film, the additional resonance is identified. (C) 1997 American Institute of Physics.
