Electronic state characterization of TiO2 ultrafine particles by luminescence spectroscopy

摘要
The electronic states of TiO2 ultrafine particles (UFP) are characterized by photoluminescence spectra and diffuse reflection spectra. The results obtained indicate that the surface structure, i.e., TiOH groups, TiOC2H5 groups, and the defect state, plays an important role in the electronic states of the TiO2 UFP. Moreover, free exciton emission is observed at room temperature. This emission is attributed to the quantum confinement and the dielectric confinement effects on the TiO2 UFP.
