摘要
Fuel cells, which generate electricity directly from the oxidation of hydrogen, are an exciting alternative to batteries for storing energy in electric vehicles. Modern fuel cell systems based on proton exchange membranes can deliver better than a kilowatt of power per liter of stack volume. Operating at about 80 °C and employing a thin plastic sheet as their electrolyte, they are easy and safe to handle in manufacturing and in later use. They also have low emissions, high conversion efficiency and fast startups and response to transients.
