摘要
The development in research, development, and demonstration (RD&D) efforts to develop microgrids to coordinate distributed energy resources (DERs) in a consistently more decentralized manner for reducing the control burden on the grids and permitting them to provide their full benefits, is discussed. A microgrid operates safely and efficiently within its local distribution network. The promotion and deployment of DERs in the European Union (EU) are expected to benefits consumers, the European energy system, and the environment through optimization of the value chain from energy suppliers to end users. RD&D projects aim to develop new DER controllers to provide effective and efficient operation of microgrids. These include the development of alternative control strategies using advanced information and communication technology and creation of new network designs, including application of modern protection methods, and operation at variable frequencies.
