Synthesis and magnetic property of vanadium garnets AgCa2Cu2V3O12 and AgCa2Zn2V3O12

摘要
Vanadium garnets AgCa2Cu2V3O12 and AgCa2Zn2V3O12 have been successfully synthesized. The X-ray diffraction experiments indicate that these compounds have the garnet structure of cubic symmetry of space group Ia(3) over bard (O-h(10)) with the lattice constant of 12.465 Angstrom (AgCa2Cu2V3O12) and 12.491 Angstrom (AgCa2Zn2V3O12), respectively. The magnetic susceptibility of AgCa2Cu2V3O12 has the Curie-Weiss paramagnetic behavior with the effective magnetic moment of 1.97 mu (B) due to Cu2+ ion at A-site and the Weiss constant of -10.1 K (antiferromagnetic sign). On the other hand, AgCa2Zn2V3O12 exhibits a fairly perfect non-magnetic state of all the cations with the closed shell. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
