摘要：

A consensus conference on neonatal hearing screening was held in Milan, Italy, on 15 and 16, May 1998. At this conference evidence was presented by specialists in various fields including epidemiology, audiology, otolaryngology, communication disorders, speech-language pathology, education and health economics(1). It was reviewed by a panel of experts(2). A consensus statement was produced and is reported here.
