Stress protein 310 kD affects the energetic activity of plant mitochondria under hypothermia

摘要
A stress protein that increased in amount has been isolated from winter rye shoots subjected to hypothermia. The protein has a molecular mass 310 kD and has two types of subunit, 66 and 56 kD. The protein has been also found in plant mitochondria. This protein was shown to increase the rate of non-phosphorylative respiration and to decrease the coupling of oxidation and phosphorylation under hypothermia in vitro. It suggests a reduction in the proton control of the respiration by the stress protein. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. AII rights reserved.
